The Marijampolė region is a region located in the southwest of Lithuania, consisting of the municipalities of Kalvarija, Kazlų Rūda, Marijampolė, Šakiai district and Vilkaviškis district.
The Marijampolė regional development council was established by all five municipalities of the Marijampolė region in February 2021.
The purpose of the Marijampolė regional development council is to plan and coordinate the implementation of regional policy in the Marijampolė region, promote the social and economic development of the region, reduce differences between municipalities and other regions, promote cooperation between municipalities, and represent the Marijampolė region.
